Thank you thank you thank you Barbara Walters for inviting Hillary Clinton to share what many of us know already —-we NEED a woman in the White House.

Her remarks below could not be any more clear.

Hillary Clinton may not have made up her mind about whether to run for president in 2016, but she absolutely believes that a woman needs to make it to the White House.

During a Wednesday interview with ABC’s Barbara Walters — Clinton was named the “Most Fascinating Person of 2013” — the former Secretary of State revealed that she would make a decision about a possible presidential run sometime next year. Walters also asked Clinton whether she thinks it’s important that the U.S. has a female president.

Clinton responded with a resounding yes — and explained exactly why it’s so important to have female political leadership in the United States:

I do think it’s important. I don’t know the exact timing of it or who that might be, but my friend Michelle Bachelet was just reelected president in Chile, Dilma Rousseff, who I admire greatly, is president of Brazil, Angela Merkel is probably the most important leader in Europe if not beyond. It matters. It matters because we have half the population that has given so much to building this country, to making it work, and of course I want to see a woman in the White House. Because, if I look at my friends and former colleagues who are now in the Senate, it was the women senators on both sides of the aisle who finally broke the fever over the government shutdown and debt limit debate. They have been working across party lines, and we need more of that.

We couldn’t agree more, Hillz. Plus, we’re ready to stop waiting for “the first female” anything.
